Vince ChappleABOUT

Vince Chapple is a documentary photographer and filmmaker based in England. His work follows people and places, often through travel, with an interest in the atmosphere of everyday life and the ways memory and family shape how we see a place.

Vince spent more than two decades in Canada, first in Alberta and then British Columbia. His father was a keen photographer, and Vince grew up around cameras. He studied at the Western Academy of Photography in British Columbia, then went on to study computer science and work as an Oracle DBA for the Canadian Government. After returning to England with his young family, he worked as a wedding, newborn, maternity and commercial photographer. He later completed a degree in Photography and a BA (Hons) in Applied Media, which led him towards documentary photography and short filmmaking.

A Road Seen Twice brings together photographs from a three-month journey with his two sons through California, Oregon and western Canada. The trip came after the boys’ mother died and began as a journey to visit family in the US and Canada. The photographs move between landscapes, towns, motel rooms and the everyday moments they shared on the road.
